Salt Life is an apparel brand that celebrates the ocean lifestyle. We built an engaged community around that lifestyle, and then boosted sales with a revitalized ecommerce program.

Salt Life is a way of life, not just a brand. For Salt Life customers, a cool tee shirt or a car decal is a personal expression of identity, a symbol of their love for the energy of the beach lifestyle—surfing, fishing, diving, relaxing on the water. The only problem? The brand wasn’t reaching its growth potential because it lacked a strong online presence and a community of brand loyalists.
Salt Life people—lovers of sand, surf, sun, and sky—are a true community of their own. Our first move was to tap into the strength of that community by telling the Salt Life story and uniting them around a lifestyle. Next, we rebuilt the ecommerce program, launching with a fresh Salt Life website design and a strategic email marketing plan to fuel online shopping. Updating the visuals and messaging gave the brand a fun edge that matches the energy of beach life.
After we brought a sense of adventure and experience back to the Salt Life brand, growth swelled. We boosted online sales, and nurtured a significant increase in social media fans and engagement. Salt Life fans embraced the lifestyle and began sharing pictures from their fishing trips or sporting their SL gear on Facebook. Within less than a year of our redesign, the new Salt Life website earned a coveted spot in Internet Retailer’s Top 100 retail sites of 2011.
